This is the item that started it all!
Matt Jamie came to us with a little bottle of soy sauce about 10 years ago. He introduced himself and presented this small bottle as if it was his first borne child, which in a sense it was. We always like to support local folks and their dreams, but few explode on the scene the way Matt did with his Bourbon Barrel Foods. A chef by trade and living in the bourbon capitol of the world, Matt saw the way to combine it all and now has a wide line of Kentucky made and bourbon inspired spices and sauces, and nationwide recognition. And I still discretely take a small bottle when i visit my favorite sushi restaurant her in Louisville, don’t want to offend but, oh so much better. Bourbon Barrel Foods Bluegrass Soy Sauce is microbrewed in small batches using only whole Kentucky grown Non-GMO soybeans, soft red winter wheat, and the purest limestone filtered Kentucky spring water.
It is then fermented and aged in used bourbon barrels which give it hints of charcoal, oak, spice and a mild sweetness reminiscent of fine Kentucky bourbon.
This unique method of production yields a soy sauce that is rich, smoky, savory, brothy, and unlike any other that we’ve tried.
