Every gift tells a story, and this one tells Kentucky's finest! The Governor's Choice Basket is our most premium gift basket. We built it for the moments when only the best will do. It brings together bourbon country sweets, Southern kitchen staples, Derby traditions, and a stunning coffee table book, all hand-picked from Kentucky makers we know and love.
For decades, we've created tasteful gift baskets filled with wonderful Kentucky-made products. In the early days, we searched the hills and hollers of Kentucky to find unique, quality foods. Today, thanks to the Buy Local movement and the Kentucky Proud program, we have more local makers to share than ever. This basket brings together the best of them.
Here's what makes the Governor's Choice so special:
- A showstopping bourbon pie. The Adam Matthews Baking Company Bourbon Chocolate Chip Pecan Pie is the sweet centerpiece of this basket. Rich pecans and melty chocolate chips meet a warm hint of bourbon in a full-size pie made for sharing.
- Raise a toast the Kentucky way. A Traditional Mint Julep Cup in non-tarnish finish pairs with an Evan Williams Mini Mint Julep Mix. It's everything they need for a classic julep on Derby Day or any day!
- A keepsake for the coffee table. Kentucky: A Photographic Journey by Linda Doane captures the Bluegrass State's horse farms, racetracks, and rolling landscapes in beautiful photographs. It's a gift they'll flip through again and again.
- Bring bourbon country to the kitchen. Bourbon Country Gourmet Sauce, Bourbon Barrel Foods Bourbon Smoked Sea Salt, and Dan-O's Seasoning add bold Kentucky flavor to everything from grilled steaks to roasted veggies.
- Cook up Southern classics. Weisenberger Mills Cornbread Mix comes from the oldest commercial mill in Kentucky. Pair it with Kentucky Burgoo Hearty Stew Mix, a true Bluegrass tradition, for a cozy supper that tastes like home.
- Dips, spreads, and morning coffee. Kentucky Dill Mix whips up a zesty dip in minutes. Lucky Clover Farm jam from Richmond, Kentucky, brightens biscuits and toast, and a Red Hot Roasters coffee packet from Louisville makes the perfect morning pour.
- Savor bourbon sweets. Woodford Reserve Bourbon Chocolates (4 pc.), Najla's Kentucky Bourbon Glazed Pecan Shortbread, and crunchy Bourbon Pecan Brittle bring the rich flavor of Kentucky's famous spirit to dessert time.
- Unwrap timeless Kentucky candy. Bauer's Modjeskas wrap soft marshmallow in buttery caramel, a beloved Louisville tradition. Ruth Hunt Chocolate Pretzels and Amuse Mints round out the candy shop favorites.
- Snack like a local. Jockey's Delite Snack Mix and Najla's Gone Nuts Gourmet Spiced Nuts deliver a crunchy, savory mix that's not too spicy and not too sweet.
- Keep a piece of Derby history. The Dirty Old Horseshoe from Churchill Downs is an authentic track souvenir from the home of the Kentucky Derby. Hang it up for good luck long after the treats are gone!

Have a question about our wonderful Kentucky gift baskets? We've put together answers to some of our most common questions to help you out!
How quickly will my gift basket ship?
We work hard to get your gifts out the door as quickly as possible, usually within 1-3 business days! Shipping times will then vary based on the destination. If you have a specific deadline, please contact our team, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
What are my delivery options?
We proudly ship our authentic Kentucky gift baskets nationwide! For our local friends, we also offer a convenient Louisville pickup option at our store or local delivery. Simply select your preferred method during checkout.
Can you make substitutions or create a custom basket?
Absolutely! To ensure your gift arrives perfectly, we may occasionally need to substitute an item with another of equal or greater value. For custom gift baskets or special requests for corporate gift baskets, please reach out to us directly so we can create something truly special for you!
Can I include a gift message?
Of course! Every gift should have a personal touch. You will have the option to add a gift message during the checkout process. For corporate orders, we can also discuss including branded materials.
What if an item is out of stock?
We strive to keep our most popular items ready to go! If a specific item in a basket is temporarily unavailable, we will substitute it with a similar product of equal or greater value to ensure your gift is still packed with Kentucky charm.
What about food allergies or dietary restrictions?
Because our gift baskets contain a variety of products from different local artisans, we cannot guarantee they are free from allergens like nuts, soy, gluten, or dairy. If you have concerns about specific ingredients, please contact us before ordering.
Our shipping schedule is Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 4 PM, using UPS Ground Service as our primary shipping method. We strive to ship orders the same day. Orders placed after 2 pm EST may ship the following day.
While we aim to ship all orders the same day, items like chocolates, pies, and cakes require extra care. During the hot summer months (June-September, sometimes October) we avoid shipping these perishable items on Fridays, and occasionally on Thursdays. This varies based on temperatures and distance.
This precaution ensures that these delicate items do not sit in hot UPS vans or warehouses over the weekend, when shipments are not actively moving. Any orders we hold for this reason will be shipped the following Monday, unless it's a holiday.
