About the Junior League of Louisville

The Junior League of Louisville is committed to promoting voluntarism, to developing the potential of women, and to improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

The JLL reaches out to women of all races, religions and nationalities. Through this unity of purpose, this unique group of women has had -- and continues to have -- a profound impact upon the Louisville area.

Founded in 1921, the Junior League of Louisville currently has more than 1,000 members and is part of a network of more than 293 Junior League organizations in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Great Britain. The Association of Junior Leagues International has more than 193,000 members.

Junior League of Louisville members annually donate more than 180,000 volunteer hours to community projects and serve on more than 200 national, state and local boards. To support its many projects, the JLL is involved in several fund-raising events. In total, these events help raise more than $100,000 annually.

The League's current projects include programs that benefit the following organizations and charities:

  • CASA -- Court-Appointed Special Advocates for children in the local family court system
  • Race for the Cure
  • Done-in-a-day
  • Breast Cancer Project to Keep In Touch
  • Louisville Girls Leadership Conference
  • Dating Violence Outreach Group
